Summary
"It's April 1922 and it seems things are gradually improving for everyone in the farming neighborhood of Mount Morris, Wisconsin. Twelve-year-old Mattie Carson has adjusted well, living with the Brewsters after losing her mother and her guardian. She's nervous though since she'll be moving up north to live with her mother's relatives once school is out. Bartholomew Frenke has come out of hiding and is partnering with the Brewster family in farming and studying with the Brewster boys to qualify to go to high school in the fall. He's still very worried about his mother and sister-- Wondering where they are and hoping they have survived the winter with his ill-tempered father. The Brewster brothers, George and Carl, have been living on their home farm with their Aunt Annie and their two uncles, Charlie and Frank, since their parents died a few years earlier. They are busy with their farm chores and, along with Bartholomew, preparing for high school, as well. Even though they've lived through more hardship than most children, they agree they've been more fortunate than either Bartholomew or Mattie. So, what's next for these four? Counting on the Moon, Too will provide the answers for you. Thanks for wondering with me--; Wondering is what makes the world go around, isn't it?" -- Back cover
